Die Suche nach der Essenz, dem Kern der Dinge: Diese Aufgabe stellten sich sowohl Sängerin Filippa Gojo, als auch Saxophonist Stephan Mattner schon früh in ihrer jeweiligen musikalischen Entwicklung. So war es nur eine Frage der Zeit, dass die beiden in Köln ansässigen Musiker:innen dieses Erforschen gemeinsam fortsetzen.
Einerseits reduziert auf Stimme und Sopransaxophon, andererseits erweitert durch gezielt eingesetzte Effekte und Computer-Sounds, vereint das Duo Nucleus auch genau das: Die Reduktion auf das Wesentliche in Verbindung mit dem Abstrakten, dem nicht ganz Greifbaren. Auch die Verhältnisse der Ebenen sind in ständigem Wandel: Mal heben sich die Elemente klar voneinander ab, trennen sich unverkennbar in Begleitung und Melodie, in Elektronik und Akustik, mal verschmelzen sie ohne hörbare Trennung miteinander.

The search for the essence, the core of things: This is a task that both singer Filippa Gojo and saxophonist Stephan Mattner set themselves early on in their respective musical developments. So it was only a matter of time that the two Cologne-based musicians continued this exploration together.
On the one hand, reduced to voice and soprano saxophone, and on the other hand expanded through targeted effects and computer sounds, the Duo Nucleus combines exactly that: reduction to the essential in connection with the abstract, the not quite tangible. The relationships between the levels are also constantly changing: sometimes the elements clearly stand out from one another, unmistakably separate in accompaniment and melody, in electronics and acoustics, sometimes they merge with each other without any audible separation.
